My 12 of 12 . . . Week Long Edition
So, if you dont know . . . there’s this thing that Chad started called 12 of 12. You’re suppose to take 12 pictures on the 12th day of the month documenting your day. There are other similar projects, like project 365 and the like. But Pete and Bushare doing it, so to fit in with the cool kids, I thought I would too.
However, last week I was sick. Then I got sicker. Then stuff broke on the web server, then stuff broke at the church here, . . . so Ian was a busy boy. So my 12 of 12 is indeed 12 pictures, but some of them 13th and the 14th as well. I know those aren’t the rules, but I dont care . . . sometimes you just have to start where you are.
So without further ado, here we go ! . . .

Bailey, my dog. This is early in the morning, before I even shower. He gets up on the bed, lays across my chest, and waits for me to take him out to pee. He waits on the landing of the steps for me to put my pants and shirt and shoes on to take him out and looks at me like this. What sad puppy eyes !

And here we have my office. Much like my life it’s over full of things. Not that it’s ever uncluttered, but after the Christmas play and new years and cleaning out a few other rooms . . . well it got to be like this. My major project for this week it to get it more organized . . . which basically means I clean off my desk(s) and put away stuff and anything I can fix I fix . . . everything else goes in the trash.

uFor the Christmas Play (The Light in the Basement: A Journey Toward Something Greater) I was not only a writer, I was the set designer too. And pulling back the model building class I took, I decided to make a model of the set. One, becaseit honestly helps to get your sight lines correct (you DO NOT want to block a view of the kids withthe set or angry moms will kill you in the parking lot . . . trust me) and Two . . . I just like building models. This one is a white model, just a very simple model (to scale) that helped me get the placement of the set all nice and happy BEFORE I got up on the stage and built it with Shawn Bradly. It’s difficult to see, but you get the idea.

And here we have the actual set, though the picture is not a good one. You get the basic idea though. It’s suppose to be a basement, complete with furnace for Dad to electrocute himself (part of the plot of the play, how else is he suppose to talk with a Wise Man from the nativity scene ?).

And here we have the Youth Sound booth on Wednesday (yes, the 13th . . . not the 12th . . . get over it). The lighting board and moving light controller is on orange, the sound board and sound rack in blue. Not pictured (to the right of the lighting board) is the Video Distro section (just video equipment) and the Media Computer we use . . . well to put media on the projector screen (also not pictured). My laptop, which follows me around everywhere, is sitting on top of the sound rack.

And here we have a close up of the moving light controller, just because it looks cool.

And here we have Thursday, when I spend most of my time editing videos for Sunday. You can see the super sexy Sony FX7 camera the church just got. I am soohappy with it. I need to learn a bit more about how to use the advanced features on it, for it is super cool. Anywho, you can also see my little (dying) SeaGate drive laying on its side . . . waiting to be replaced as my media drive for video editing (as soon as funds are available).

Oh look ! It’s Vegas 8.0 ! Here I am rendering a short video for a Connect Parents Meeting (Connect being the name of our youth group). This is kind of a filler picture, so I could have 12. Nothing much to see here . . . move along.

Here we have a view of downtown Nashville on Friday. Friday is usually my day off, but I had to run into town to pickup our recently repaired keyboard (from SST Music City Gear Works, who do very nice work . . . though they did miss one key that’s still broken). I also went to Bradfield Stage and Lighting to pick up some lighting stuff. What wonderful people at Bradfield. If you ever need some professional lighting for your event, or lighting equipment, call Bradfield ! They really are super cool.

Speaking of Cool, here is Steph from Bradfield ! Steph and I went to college together and both majored in lighting. She’s now in charge of rentals at Bradfield, as well as continuing her education in Literature (that is to say, getting her Masters while working full time). Every time I go in to get lighting stuff, we have lunch. Though she is a Mac girl, she is still a good friend. One of the few people from college I still keep in touch with on a regular basis.

In the spirit of ‘Dinner’ related picture, here is mine on Thursday. Yep, I’m a bachelor, I can get away with Ramen for dinner. Man I need to clean the stove.

Here we have an 8 second exposure of the night sky as I take Bailey out to pee before bed. That’s Orion there, can you see it ? That’s also my deck railing . . . since I had to set it down on the deck for such a long exposure.
So there you have it ! my 12 of the-week-of-12.

Oooh shiny things! Nice to finally see some pics of where you live and work buddy
I’m sure as a first timer the International Standards of 12 Committee will let ya off the multiple days.
“Though she is a Mac girl, she is still a good friend.” Hilarious. These are awesome pictures and I find myself with a new respect for what you do! I mean, I always hear you saying you’re doing this video editing or that, but this is legit! Nice job gettin your 12 of 12 done, I would’ve CERTAINLY given up had I been in your situation w/ all that stuff!
AND BTW, the site looks different!
@ Pete – Yah, I figured it was time that I actually DID a 12 of 12 . . . so I can be one of the cool kids.
@ Bush – Thanks my man. I just get to play with the expensive toys . . . er . . . equipment.
