 What are the HEMI awards ?  well watch the video.  Basically it’s the churchs banquet where we say Thank You to all the people who volunteer here at church.

What is Ian doing today ?

Ian is pouring over hours worth of video and Indexing it.  Meaning that he is watching the video in real time and making notes and to what is where so that when he wont have to spend hours searching for it later on.  Ian loves to do this . . . he loves to do it so much that he started speaking in third person earlier today. 

Ian is a little worried. 

For instance, this last note was “Kids Church – Wade Smith – Sunday School – close up and pans of children, funny kids” under the heading of “Volunteer tape 2-2”.

Once this tape runs out in a few minutes Ian will be heading to get some lunch.

- Rainbow 6 Vegas 2 comes out next week.  I’ve already preordered it and paid for it in full.  Yes that’s dorky but I have saved up the money to get it (along with a bit of birthday money) so I decided to go ahead and pay for it. 

- Army of 2 came out the other day . . . I bet you missed that.  Why ?  Because they ran out of money making the game.  How can I tell ?  I’ve played the game . . . and I can tell that about half way through they either ran out of money . . . or time.  So they decided to polish what they had real quick and make it work.  It’s not a BAD game (despite the fact that the two guys spend a lot of time touching each other) . . . it’s just not a ground breaking game.  Don’t pay more the $40 for it or you’ll be disappointed.

Oh yes.  I just saw the Dickson County Hwy Authority spreading brine on the roads . . . and on a check of the weather they are expecting rain tonight turning to snow tomorrow. 

This means that every single person in Dickson County (and the surrounding areas) will be absolutely attacking Walmart, Kroger, and FoodLion and buying milk, break, canned foods, flashlights, candles, blankets, and other “Emergency” needs just like they ALWAYS do before even the SMALLEST hint of snow. 

I had planned on doing some grocery shopping this afternoon as well.  I guess I’m going to be joined by a horde of people . . . but that can be fun sometimes.  People act like the world is coming to an end and like they need to rush home to board up the windows before they huddle together in the basement waiting for the end to come. 

It reminds me of Florida when a major hurricane was coming.  People rushing around like they don’t have enough time to get home before the ‘big storm’. 

Wow the week is going fast.   Yesterday it was almost 70 F here in Tennessee . . . now it’s actualy snowing outside !  Yes . . . in less then 48 hours we have gone from shorts to snow !

Here’s what’s going on in my life these past few days:

 - Windows Server 2008 launched last month . . . and I didnt notice.  How did I miss this ?
 - Was VERY sick for about 4 days last week.  Feeling much better but catching up from 4 last days is not what I wanted to be doing for the first two days of the week here.
 - Getting ready for the Volunteer Banquet.  We’re calling it the H.E.M.I awards.  Honoring Everyones Ministry Involvement . . . no we weren’t clever enough to come up with that ourselves . . . we totally stole the idea from another church.  This involves me trying to finilize the details of the video(s) that I need to do . . . especially the one big video that is supose to honor all the Volunteers (What would DFA be like with no Volunteers ? is the basic idea).   The whole thing is going to be a rip off of the Emmys . . . so we do the whole And the Nomonies Are thing.
 - trying to figure out how to make the backup scheme on my network be happy (with the help of Pete . . . who is wonderful IT professional in the UK). 

     I may only post sporatically during these next couple of weeks as I get ready for the last major event of Q1 of 2008.  After the banquet I’ll have a bit of free time to actually address some of the problems of the network . . . maybe even find out more about the less expensive Fiber Optic cable that uses plastic cable and Ultra Bright LED’s instead of spun glass and lazers.
